There are so many different interacting groups in the movie, A Bronx Tale. The main character, Collogero, or "C" is a part of most of them, and he struggles to figure out what "master status" he wants to have. There's his family, and his strained relationship with his father. And then there's Sonny's crew, and the smaller circle in that, where Sonny is a father figure to him. So in both of those, he's the "Son," and Collogero goes back and forth having his master status in each of those.
He also has his neighborhood friends, who Sonny doesn't like. Collogero's also just a teenager, one who might be falling in love with a African American girl. At the point were at right now, Collogero is trying to figure out if he wants to be defined by his neighborhood, or if he wants to break out of that and jsut be with the girl, Jane.
Besides "Italian," I don't think Collogero sees himself with a perminant master status, because it switches depending on which group he's in. I think a lot of teenagers do this as well, because different people expect different things from us, and then see us in that light. I hope, by the end of the movie, Collogero realizes, maybe not what group he wants to be in, but at least the ones he doesn't want to be in.
